James C. Duke – President

In 1988, after spending over ten years independently managing new construction and insurance restoration projects, James started Duke & Associates General Contractors. The organization was incorporated in 1990 forming J.C. Duke & Associates General Contractors, Inc. He formed this full-service general contracting company at the request of several clients in order to manage larger, more complex projects for them.
Since then James has lead the company by managing its growth in a manner that preserved its focus on providing quality work at a fair price regardless of the size of project. James makes sure that his project managers work with the owners, architects, engineers and subcontractors to ensure that all activities are carried out in the most functional, efficient, and cost effective manner possible.
James has significant experience working in project management, financial planning, budgeting, accounting, marketing, legal, administration, contract negotiation, and staffing. As President and Owner, James directs the management team in creating innovative general contracting solutions for the diverse and complex needs of today’s clientele.
Allen Helms – Project Manager

Allen holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Faulkner University and has over 25 years of experience in both the contractor and owner sides of Industrial and Commercial Construction Contracting. Allen is a Certified Purchasing Manager and a Certified Business Manager. His experience includes 11 years of experience in Materials Management and Subcontract Administration, as well as 7 years of experience in Industrial Supply Management. Subsequently, Allen brings the in-depth experience necessary to understand fully the value of using proven processes to ensure maximum efficiency and cost effectiveness when managing construction projects.
Jemmie Tucker – Project Manager

Jemmie holds a Bachelor of Building Construction from Auburn University. His many years of experience are notable in the design-build and estimating areas of Project Management. He is particularly adept with CAD and other design technology. Other areas of expertise include value engineering, scheduling, permitting, plan review and project close-out. Jemmie’s attention to detail makes him an invaluable member of our team.

Alan has been with J.C. Duke & Associates for 20 years and has over 30 years of industrial and commercial construction experience. He has been a member of our management team for the past twelve years serving as project manager and estimator. His thorough knowledge of commercial and industrial construction comes from hard earned practical field experience such as industrial and commercial carpentry, electrical work, concrete work, pipe and fitting fusion welding, storm water management, multiple equipment operator certifications, and specialty coating systems. Alan’s practical experience, management skills and customer service orientation are just a few of the reasons he is a highly valued member of our team.

Duane holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering Technology from The University of Southern Mississippi. He brings thirty years of business experience and twenty years of construction project management experience to our team. His areas of expertise include all facets of project management including scheduling and long-range planning, estimating, and fiscal management. He is a welcome, new addition to our team.

Donna has over 30 years of experience in the business sector. Within the construction industry she has served in the following positions: contract administrator, purchasing agent, Small Business Administration compliance officer, facilities manager, purchasing expeditor, safety coordinator and construction coordinator. She also has nine years of experience as a legal secretary and two years as an emergency medical technician. Donna’s industry knowledge, work ethic and enthusiasm make her a vital part of our organization.
Lacy Duke – Administrative Assistant

Lacy is majoring in Graphic Design and minoring in Print Making and Art History at The University of South Alabama. Her primary areas of responsibility at J.C. Duke include project close-out documentation, subcontractor and vendor liaison for bidding and project estimation, and subcontract and purchase order preparation. Lacy is an accomplished artist and uses her artistic skills in the preparation of marketing materials, as well as job progress documentation.

Will has been performing construction and related services for over 44 years and has been a member of the J.C. Duke team for 20 years. His knowledge and skill level in all facets of carpentry and project management, give him a competitive edge in today’s restoration market. As the Manager of the Insurance Restoration Division, Will oversees all aspects of restoration work from the initial response to the final completion of each job. Will’s attention to detail and effective leadership provide a timely, quality restoration for each of our clients.

He is highly respected for his estimating and project management skills, as well as his desire for customer satisfaction.

Tim has been with J.C. Duke for 20 years. He received his formal education in Communications from Temple University. Prior to joining our team, he served for 14 years in The United States Army, where he received specialized training in human relations, leadership, training and development, and management. To further his second career, Tim successfully completed courses in Mold Remediation and Subrogation Correspondence. Tim is a proven leader who delivers a high-quality, efficient restoration every time. His enthusiasm and expectations for excellence make him an integral part of the J.C. Duke team.
James Bankston – Safety Manager

James has worked in construction and manufacturing for 30 years and brings 18 years of safety experience and training, including 8 years as a fire fighter and three years as an emergency medical technician. Specialized areas of safety training include hazardous materials (HAZMAT), hazard communications (HAZCOM), hazardous waste operating and handling procedures (HAZWOPER), process safety management, confined space, excavation and trenches, fire safety, fire fighting, emergency medical technician, blood borne pathogens, and lock out and tag out.

Carla holds a Master of Arts in Organizational Communication from the University of South Alabama. She has over 20 years of experience in real estate development, construction, and marketing. Prior to joining J.C. Duke & Associates, Carla was a project manager for a major real estate development firm, managing the development of exclusive resort condominium communities. Her areas of expertise include all facets of project development, project management, design team and contractor coordination, owner and customer relations, fiscal budgeting and management, project close-out and marketing.
Jeanie Ryder – Comptroller

Jeanie is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Master of Accountancy and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, both from the University of West Florida. She has been a valuable member of our team for nine years, and has 24 years of experience in accounting and business management. Her areas of expertise include financial and cost accounting, budgeting, finance projects, business planning, controllership, and long-term management strategies.
Donna Garner – Payroll

Donna brings 20 years of construction accounting experience to our team, as well as 10 years of general accounting experience. She processes payroll, including certified payrolls, maintains employee eligibility verification records and performs payroll reporting. Donna also serves as our employee benefits administrator.

A three year veteran of J.C. Duke & Associates, Bonnie has worked in accounting for approximately 40 years, primarily in accounts payable. Bonnie processes our accounts payables, subcontractor certificates of insurance and assists project managers with all job costs related paperwork.

Susan brings 27 years of administrative experience to J.C. Duke & Associates. She not only serves as our receptionist, but performs multiple administrative and organizational tasks critical to our daily operations.
